Folk Art Department of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) organized a three-day long folk art seminar in Patihani, Bharatpur recently. The seminar was organized to promote, preserve and develop the folk art of Nepal.
In a press statement released by Folk Art Department of NAFA, it quoted Folk Art Department Head, Mithiladevi Yadav stating that NAFA has been doing various activities to promote Nepali folk art. She expressed that folk art has its own importance to make the society prosperous along with preserving its authenticity.

Further elaborating about the event, Ward Chairperson of Bharatpur Metropolitan City ward 22, Bishnuraj Mahato said, “Local Tharu community of Bharatpur is rich in folk art and the local government has been working on it.”
Similarly, Academician of NAFA Laalkaji Lama affirmed that folk art has been preserved since ancient times in the form of cultural heritages. He believes folk art raises the local voices. The event saw the presence of several artists including Tambahadur Pun, Prakash Thapa, Devendra Thumkeli, Damodar Baral, Yogendra Khanal, Dineshwor Mahato, Barunbabu Ghimire, Rajesh Baral, Sulav Poudel, Shanta Rahadi Magar, Chetan Gautam, Bishwo Shrestha, Sabitri Rana Magar, Sajana Wagle.
