The five-day long art exhibition 'Himalayan Art Festival' that kicked off on Sunday at Nepal Art Council, Baber Mahal concluded on Thursday. Chiri Babu Maharjan, mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City inaugurated the festival.
Himalayan Art Festival concludes
The art festival exhibited 200 artworks of 150 artists. It aims to promote the aesthetic value of art, to encourage Nepali corporate houses to invest in Nepali art and to create Nepali art platform for local collectors/buyers and to create awareness about the art practices in Nepal to local and international art market.
The event showcased works that represented a wide spectrum of artists—ranging from the young to the well established ones. Within the five-day long festival, one witnessed paintings, paubha, print making, sculptures, installations, photographs, among others.
Likewise, to make the festival vibrant and lively, the festival also featured musical performances, art talks/panel discussion, kid’s art education program, Kathak dance performance and ceramic firing workshop.
The art festival was initiated by E-Arts Nepal in 2017, which has been embracing a comprehensive, inclusive and holistic approach toward contemporary Nepali art.
Moreover, from this year the festival has honored an artist for their determination, dedication and valuable contribution to enrich Nepali art scenario. And, Veteran Artist Uttam Nepali has been recognized in the festival, this year. He is known for his paintings that focus on expression and feelings, depicting depth of thought and perception through luminous colors in abstract forms.
The artworks in the exhibition were priced from Rs 8,000 to Rs 2,500,000.
