KATHMANDU, April 11: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said Nepal’s economy is not in peril. Talking to media persons at a meeting held on Monday at the Ministry of Finance, Minister Sharma said that the economy is not in a major crisis but they should still remain cautious.
Finance Minister Sharma said that the current situation is being closely monitored by the bodies concerned including the Ministry of Finance. He also shared that work is being done on the proposal submitted to the Cabinet by the Ministry of Finance under the leadership of the Chief Secretary to address the problems seen in the economy over the last seven months.

Furthermore, he said that preparations were being made to regulate the import of petroleum products to control the trade deficit. He also informed that preparations are being made to increase the customs duty on some luxury items
