KATHMANDU, June 12: Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha has called a full court meeting of all Supreme Court (SC) justices today to deliberate on awarding the title of senior advocate to seasoned legal practitioners.
While a decision is not expected in today's session, the agenda will primarily focus on the recommendations made by Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut-led committee, which has endorsed about 150 advocates for the ‘senior advocate’ title.

The proposal, circulated among the justices two weeks prior for feedback, will be extensively reviewed. According to an SC official, there is a possibility that a new committee might be formed to prepare a final report after considering all feedback and suggestions.
The designation of senior advocate is awarded based on criteria including seniority, continuous active practice, adherence to professional conduct, and a clean, non-criminal record.
