KATHMANDU, July 14: The full court meeting of the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday decided to confer the title of 'senior advocate' to 133 advocates across the country.
The meeting chaired by Acting Chief Justice Dipak Kumar Karki and all other Justices at the Supreme Court took this decision in accordance with Section 21 of Nepal Legal Practitioners Act, 2050, according to SC Spokesperson Bimal Poudel.

The legal practitioners having the letters of certificate from 1582 (2043BS) to 5207 (2051 BS) are awarded with the title of 'senior advocates.'
Some of those honored with the title are current Minister for Law, Justice and Federal Affairs, Govinda Sharma Koirala (Bandi), Chairman of parliamentary committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel, former General Secretary of Nepal Bar Association Sunil Kumar Pokhrel, and an advocate working for women rights and justice Mira Dhungana.
Earlier, Nepal Bar Association had drawn the SC's attention to take decision on conferring the title of 'senior advocate' to those who have been acting as advocates for decades.
