CCMC meeting underway, to take crucial COVID-19 related decisions

KATHMANDU, April 17: A meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (CCMC) is underway.


The CCMC meeting is scheduled for 2PM on Saturday, according to Khagraj Baral, secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Minister.


The meeting is expected to take various decisions related to COVID-19 management.

On Friday, Nepal recorded 900 new cases of COVID-19.


The government has urged the schools with high numbers of students to run classes in shifts in view of the rising risk of the COVID-19 infection across the country. It is to be noted that the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) categorized 14 districts as ‘the most affected districts’ on Thursday. 


These districts are Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kaski, Rupandehi, Chitwan, Banke, Parsa, Kailali, Morang, Dang, Surkhet, Bara and Banglung. The local administration of these districts can close the educational institutions there. 


Today’s CCMC meeting is likely to take the decision to close physical classes in schools and colleges.
