KATHMANDU, July 15: The Bhanu Prize has been given away to litterateur Prof Ghanshyam Kandel this year. The prize of worth Rs 125,000 established by Nepali Education Council was handed over to Prof Kandel on Friday on the occasion of 210th Bhanu Jayanti.
Former Chancellor of Nepal Academy Ganga Prasad Upreti offered the cash prize to Prof Kandel amid a function in the Capital City. During the event, Upreti praised the contributions of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya for the development of Nepali language and literature.
Karnali province CM Kandel secures vote of confidence
The Council awards literary figures with this prize every year for their outstanding contributions to the Nepali language, literature, culture and spiritual sectors. The Council was established in 2008 BS.
