KATHMANDU, June 23: The committee formed to recommend names for the appointment of Director at the Medical Education Commission has recommended four names. The recommended names are Prof Dr Guruprasad Khanal, Prof Dr Sujan Babu Marhatta, Prof Dr Sudip Acharya, and Dr Sarala Shrestha.
Sources indicated that among the 12 shortlisted candidates, Khanal, Marhatta, Acharya, and Shrestha were recommended for the appointment. "They have been recommended based on their expertise in the field," the source stated, adding, "The appointment is likely to be finalized today."
Three people recommended as Managing Director of NOC
The Criteria and Standards Directorate, the Coordination and Technical Development Directorate, the Examination Directorate, and the National Board of Medical Specialties will each appoint a director.
There are four vacant director positions at the Medical Education Commission. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also the chairman of the Medical Education Commission, formed a three-member committee under the coordination of Dr Ram Kumar Phuyal, a senior member of the National Planning Commission, on November 9, 2023, to recommend directors.
In the advertisement issued in December, 2023, as many as 20 individuals applied for the positions advertised by the committee. Among them, 12 names were shortlisted.
In the preliminary selection, Dr Krishna Sagar Sharma, Prof Dr Dinesh Kumar Lamsal, Dr Bhimsen Trikari, Prof Dr Bandana Gurung Sharma, Dr Bijay Chandra Acharya, Prof Dr Suraj Bajracharya, Prof Dr Swayam Prakash Pandit, and Hariprasad Basyal were disqualified from the competition after the interview and presentation round.
