Curfew extended in Birgunj until midnight

Earlier, the administration had imposed the curfew from Saturday evening until 12 pm today (Sunday) following clashes, vandalism, and arson between two communities that broke out on Saturday afternoon.

KATHMANDU, April 13: The curfew in the Birgunj Metropolitan area of Parsa district has been extended. Parsa’s chief district officer, Ganesh Aryal, announced the extension of the curfew period.



The District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, has issued a curfew order in certain areas of Birgunj Metropolitan City. The order, issued under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028 BS, was enforced due to the escalating tension and the possibility of unrest in the area.


The curfew will now remain in effect until midnight today. Earlier, the administration had imposed the curfew from Saturday evening until 12 pm today (Sunday) following clashes, vandalism, and arson between two communities that broke out on Saturday afternoon.

All public gatherings, rallies, protests, and unnecessary movement within the designated curfew zone are strictly prohibited.

East: Bypass Road


West: Sirsiya Bridge


North: Power House Chowk


South: Shankaracharya Gate
