SURKHET, Aug 5: Chief Minister (CM) of Karnali Province Yamlal Kandel has secured the vote of confidence. After the Maoist Center withdrew its support to the government on July 22, CM Kandel took the vote of confidence for the second time.
CM Kandel was supported by lawmakers from the Nepali Congress (NC), UML and RPP. In the 40-member provincial assembly, 37 people voted in parliament on Monday. A total of 23 votes were cast in his favor while 14 votes were against him.

Five political parties are represented in the Karnali Province Assembly. NC, the largest party in the province assembly, has 15 MPs, while the main opposition party, the Maoist Center, has 13 MPs. The UML, which is leading the government, has 10 MPs, while the Unified Socialist Party and RPP have one MP each in the Karnali Provincial Assembly.
