NEPALGUNJ, Feb 24: Private school operators and teachers appointed on relief quota have padlocked the main gate of the District Education Office here on Tuesday morning.
The school operators were protesting the new service tax imposed by the government while the teachers were demanding that they should be made permanent among other things.
The teachers also called for scrapping of the age ceiling on relief quota teachers, and medical care, insurance and paid leave at par with the government teachers. The teachers also started signature campaign which they plan to continue till March 8 before handing the signatures over to the Ministry of Education and the district administration office the following day.

"We will opt for tougher measures if our demands are not met and will encircle the ministry on March 11," Relief Quota Teachers Struggle Committee Banke Chairman Badri Dhakal warned.
