KATHMANDU, Nov 27: Journalist Prakriti Adhikari has bagged the 'Dev Shumsher Gorkhapatra Journalism Award'.
Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki handed out the award to Adhikari, who is associated with Gorkhapatra Daily, amid a program organized by Dev Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana Foundation in the Capital today.
Also on the occasion, Minister Karki affixed the first cancellation mark on a postage stamp issued in memory of Rana.
Established by the foundation, the award carries a cash prize of Rs 15,000.
Likewise, journalist Bikash Thapa of Annapurna Post daily was awarded the 'Senior Journalism Award'. The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000.
Director General Department of Postal Services Suresh Adhikari, directors Badrinath Gaire and Rajan Poudel, employees Bed Prasad Bhandari, Shirish Upadhyay, Dipendra Budathoki, Purnakala Limbu, Sudha Regmi, office chief of Nepal Philatelic Bureau, sister organization of the department, and manager of the Central Ticket Store Narayan Prasad Poudyal were also honored.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, Minister Karki viewed that the state should reward those who have contributed to the nation.
He also said the government was working to reconstruct a building housing Gorkhapatra Daily that was damaged by the earthquake of April 25, 2015. RSS
