'40 per cent people lack access to electricity'

KANCHANPUR, Feb 11: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Kamal Thapa has said that 40 per cent people in the country are still deprived of electricity supplies. 


At a news conference organized in Kanchanpur today, Thapa said that the government was working with the garget to provide electricity supplies to every household within five years.

The government is preparing to develop 17,000 megawatt power in a decade and the Province No. 7 has immense potentials for hydropower generation, the Deputy Prime Minister said. Thapa also shared that development of the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project will complete within nine months now. 


On a different context, Thapa, who is also the Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), said that party's failure to file nomination for the candidacy in the elections to the House of Representatives was a blunder. RSS
