Visual artist Kapil Mani Dixit who uses nude human figures as his major motif has got his motivation for the exhibition ‘Nude Carpet’ from an object inside his studio—an old carpet. Muna Bhadel’s exhibition ‘The Missing Souls’, is inspired by her surroundings— Dapcha Bazaar—where she spent most of her childhood. According to Bhadel, she became aware of her environment after reading ‘Karnali Blues’ by Buddhi Sagar.

The Ranipokhari temple, otherwise closed for the public, was opened on Tuesday. The gates open only twice a year. This year, they were kept open on May 7 (Tuesday) and 9 (Thursday). The temple is open for the visitors on the two days of Dewali (Prayers to the clan Deity). Thursday was the Dewali for Prajapati clan of Bhaktapur.

Former President Barack Obama’s post-White House memoir isn’t expected to be released this year, setting up the likelihood that the highly anticipated book will drop during the 2020 campaign. Publisher Penguin Random House started alerting foreign partners and others about the status of Obama’s book on Tuesday. The former president has been writing the book himself, handwriting a first draft on legal pads, the same technique he used for numerous White House speeches and his first best-seller, 'Dreams from My Father.'

Visual artist Ashmina Ranjit’s artwork ‘Sacredness within and beyond: Multiple Kailash’ has been nominated as one among 30 other international artists for The Sovereign Asian Art Prize, representing Nepal. The winning artist is awarded US$30,000 at an annual sell-out Gala Dinner in Hong Kong. The 29 other works are auctioned, with the artists receiving 50 percent of proceeds and the other 50 percent funding the charitable work of the Foundation.
