Jhapa sends Police crashing out

CHITWAN, Oct 19: Jhapa XI and Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) emerged victorious in the 12th Tuborg Bikash Running Shield on Wednesday while Nepal Police Club crashed out of the tournament a day after Nepal APF Club faced a similar fate in the event being held at Campachaur, Narayangadh.

CHITWAN, Oct 19: Jhapa XI and Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) emerged victorious in the 12th Tuborg Bikash Running Shield on Wednesday while Nepal Police Club crashed out of the tournament a day after Nepal APF Club faced a similar fate in the event being held at Campachaur, Narayangadh. 



In the late match of the day, Jhapa sent Police packing home with 3-2 win while MMC crushed visiting Siwan United FC of Bihar 4-1. The Bihar-based club was restricted to 10 men in the middle of the second half.



MMC netted two goals each in either havles as its African recruit Olawale O Afeez scored twice. Bimal Basnet and Sajan Maharjan added one goal each for the winning team. Ranjit Ale of Siwan netted a consolation goal for the winning side.  



In the kick off match, Prashant Magar scored the opener in the 14th minute while Bikash Rai and Bikash Limbu added one goal each. Nir Kumar Rai and Jumanu Rai were on target for Police. Bikash Limbu of Jhapa was declared the man-of-the-match. 



Apex Football Club of Kalimpong, India, will take on Morang FC on Thursday.
