KATHMANDU, September 2: Former Secretary of the Government of Nepal, Shreekanta Regmi, passed away this morning. He was 71.

Suffering from diabetes and kidney problems for the past few years, Regmi died in the course of treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Regmi, who worked as the home secretary for long, was known as a capable administrator.
He is survived by his wife and two sons. According to the family source, his final rites will be performed once his sons return from abroad.
