The leopard in Baitadi has killed 14 people this year. The district administration office Baitadi decided to reward Rs 25,000 to anyone who brings the leopard dead or alive.[break]
The administration office has also decided to expedite search for the leopard.
"Ministry of Forest has been requested to the send a team of wildlife experts to help the search," Chief district officer Janak Regmi Informed.
A special joint team from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force deployed to the affected area to search for the leopard over a week ago had returned empty handed. While the search was under way, the leopard killed a woman on Tuesday causing panic in the area.
The killer leopard has so far taken the lives of nine women and five men. People fear to come out of the village, children are unsafe and women have stopped going to the forest for collecing fodder for the cattle. On Tuesday, the leopard had killed Parbati Chand, 29, of Aamchaur VDC -8 while she was collecting grass for cattle and her body was recovered from the nearby forest.
