KATHMANDU, Jan 22: The National Kasthamandap Karate Championship 2082 officially began in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Organized by the Lainchaur Dojo of the Nepal Sitoriyo Karate Association, the championship is being held at the covered hall of Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor. The event was inaugurated by Ramcharitra Mehta, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council.

Athletes from all seven provinces—Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim—along with departmental teams including the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force (APF), and Mahendra Police Club, are participating in the competition.
According to event coordinator Ramkumar Tharu, contests are being held across various weight categories for both men and women. The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 50,000.
During the inauguration ceremony, dojo athletes Rehan Javed and Niruma Dong, who have delivered outstanding performances in international competitions, were honored with cash awards of Rs 20,000 each.
The organizers stated that the championship will continue through Friday.
