National Assembly: Voting underway nationwide for 17 seats

Of the 18 seats, one seat from the Khas Arya category in Koshi Province is uncontested, while elections are being held today for the remaining 17 seats.

KATHMANDU, Jan 25: Voting for the National Assembly has begun across the country. According to the Election Commission, elections started today at 9 a.m. for 18 seats that will become vacant from Falgun 20, 2082. Voting will continue until 3 p.m.

Of the 18 seats, one seat from the Khas Arya category in Koshi Province is uncontested, while elections are being held today for the remaining 17 seats.


Sunil Bahadur Thapa of the Nepali Congress has been elected unopposed for the Koshi Province Khas Arya seat. Voting is underway at designated polling stations in all seven provinces for the other 17 seats.


For this election, members of the Provincial Assembly, mayors and deputy mayors, and chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities are eligible to vote.
