Youth dies in APF firing in Nawalparasi

BUTWAL, May 19: A youth died after being shot by an Armed Police Force (APF) personnel in Nawalparasi district on Wednesday afternoon.


The deceased has been identified as Avinash Rajbhar, 22, of Partappur Rural Municipality-6.


He breathed his last while he was being taken to Butwal for treatment, according to Raju Lama, DSP of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi.

Avinash was shot at around 9:30AM today.


According to the local people, APF and youths clashed at around 8AM on Wednesday at Bankatti border point in Susta Rural Municipality-5 after the APF men barred the youths from traveling to India.


The APF men then started firing after three rounds of shots into the air, according to Santosh Yadav, an eye witness of the incident. However, the APF has not given any information regarding the incident yet.


Some other youths, too, are said to have sustained injuries in the clash.
