KATHMANDU, Jan 20: A young man was brutally kicked and beaten by police in the bypass road area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan, a couple of weeks back.

In a video clip which has gone viral on social media, a policeman is seen ruthlessly kicking a pedestrian multiple times. The policeman keeps kicking the pedestrian even after he falls down after the first kick on his back.

Sharing the video on the social media X (formerly Tweeter), journalist Narayan Amrit writes: “This incident of police brutality witnessed at midnight should be investigated. This scene on the sidewalk makes the general public feel unsafe due to the police themselves. What happened, a response is required.”

While it’s not clear why the policeman attacked the pedestrian, the video clip certainly raises questions about public security when the security personnel themselves thrash a common man in this fashion.
