Valentine Day: Day of lovebirds

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The Valentine Day is being observed across the world. Though lagged far behind in terms of economic development, Nepal has not remained unaffected by this festival.

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The Valentine Day is being observed across the world. Though lagged far behind in terms of economic development, Nepal has not remained unaffected by this festival.


Youths from far and near today thronged parks, gardens and public places to express their love toward each other.


The lovebirds were seen exchanging gifts and handing over a rose to their beloved.

The Valentine Day dates back to the Roman Empire when the ruler gave death penalty to a priest called Valentine on the charge of encouraging youths for love and marriage.


In Nepal, too, the Valentine Day is gaining popularity of late. It is observed in Nepal, especially in urban areas.
