JANAKPURDHAM, Sept 7: Police have arrested two people in Dhanusha with 197 grams of brown heroin.
A joint team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Area Police Office, Mahendranagar, arrested them from the Janakpur-Dhalkebar road section at Naktajhij in Mithila Municipality-2 this morning, acting on a tip-off.
The arrested have been identified as 34-year-old Rakesh Chamar of Khariyani Tole in Sabaila Municipality-10 and 27-year-old Sanjit Kumar Ram, 27, of Kamalabaripuri-13 in Madhubani district, India.
Nine arrested with 20 grams of heroin in Kailali
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Khanal, who is also spokesperson for the District Police Office, the two were stopped while travelling from Janakpur towards Dhalkebar on a motorcycle (Ja 9 Pa 5697).
During a search, police found a black plastic bag containing a substance suspected to be brown heroin in Ram's possession.
The seized substance weighed 197 grams and 440 milligrams, Khanal said.
Police suspect the two had purchased brown heroin from Madhubani, India, and were involved in distributing it in various districts of Madhes Province.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
