Sumi Gamal wins Little Lady Pageant

KATHMANDU, July 4: As the Little Lady Talent Show 2012 came to its end at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaldi, on July 3, 2012, Sumi Gamal won the coveted title of Little Lady 2012. Najejda Tamrakar and Suvekchya Saakha were the 1st and the 2nd Runner ups of Little Lady Talent Show 2012 respectively.



Organized by Kathmandu Jaycees since 1988, Little Lady Talent Show is the first beauty and talent pageant of the country. [break]From the plethora of talent shows and beauty pageants today, Little Lady Talent Show is one that is focused only on young girls. Girls as young as 9 to 11 years of age can participate in the show.



The main objective of this pageant is to present an opportunity to the young girls of Nepal to show their skills and, in the process, boost their confidence.



The first audition round for Little Lady Talent Show 2012 was held on June 2 where 50 young girls auditioned and 27 finalists were selected for the main event. On June 30, the talent round was organized and they seemed prepared and confident as they sang, danced, and presented speeches for the judges and the audience. The talent round was won by Yasna Adhikari, 11-years-old, from KMC School, who said that she wanted to grow up and be “a successful multitalented person in the future”.



As hosts for the evening, Dikshika Shrestha and Biraj Singh Khadka amused the audience with poems and jokes. The event aired live on Nepal Television.



Entertaining the audience were singers like Reema Gurung Hoda, Badal Prasai, Kamal Khatri who sang their songs to much appreciation from their listeners. Devika Bandana and Bijesh Poudel also sang a duet from his album “Mann ko Pana”.



In the grand finale, the 27 finalists acted self-assured as they tried their best to sashay in their pink, blue and red gowns, and answered questions with seeming confidence. Judging the little ladies were Kala Subba, radio presenter at HITS FM; Shaswat Parajuli, author; Raj Bhai Suwal, photographer; Reecha Sharma, actor and Uttara Bajracharya, lecturer. Ajaya Ratna Sthapit, past president of JCI, was invited to the event as the Chief Judge.



The participants also walked on stage in their dresses from the 1970s era. Most flaunted headbands and bell shaped long sleeves. Najejda Tamrakar took the title of the Best Dress. Yasna Adhikari was recognized as having the Best Talent, Supriya Khadka won the title of Miss Popular, Christina Dhoju was Miss Photogenic, Sunistha Shakya won the title of Miss Discipline and Prizma Vaidya won Best Friendship.



Everest Bank presented the top three winners with a cash prize of Rs 5000 for the title holder, Rs 4000 for the 1st Runner up and Rs 3000 for the 2nd Runner up.
