Thirty-six-year-old Bijay Lama is a bus operator from Panchkhal, Kavrepalanchowk. He has been involved in the transportation sector since 2059 BS. He had started as a help in public buses and it took him three years to learn driving.

Thirty-six-year-old Bijay Lama is a bus operator from Panchkhal, Kavrepalanchowk. He has been involved in the transportation sector since 2059 BS. He had started as a help in public buses and it took him three years to learn driving.



Earlier, he used to drive a bus that belonged to his owner, but he managed to buy a bus of his own some three years ago. Now, he owns as many as three buses and a cafe in Pashupati area.

Bijay believes that honesty in work determines one’s success. Good relation with banks and finance institutions also came in handy when Bijay decided to buy the buses. He uses the buses for travel and tour companies that mostly carry Indian tourists around the valley. He is currently living in Bouddha with his family of seven. As he was married at a young age of 16, he now has a grandson aged four.
