Authorities lift house arrest on JPMC Coordinator Subedi

Subedi was placed under house arrest after a pro-monarchy protest organized by an anti-establishment group turned violent in Tinkune on March 28.

KATHMANDU, April 22: The house arrest imposed on Navaraj Subedi, coordinator of the Joint People's Movement Committee (JPMC) for the Restoration of Monarchy, has been lifted.


Subedi was placed under house arrest after a pro-monarchy protest organized by an anti-establishment group turned violent in Tinkune on March 28.

However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Subedi mentioned that police surveillance on him has been lifted as of today. He also stated that he has now resumed his duties with the committee.


During this time, Subedi expressed his gratitude to everyone who showed him goodwill and sympathy. Since he was not allowed to leave his home, Jagman Gurung had taken over as the acting coordinator of the JMPC in his absence.
