Govt directs strict implementation of amended Anti-Corruption Act

A circular issued by Chudamani Paudel, secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, emphasized the need for effective implementation of Section 17 (a), which holds officials accountable for losses caused by deliberate delays in decision-making.

KATHMANDU, April 22:  The government has instructed all ministries, commissions, and subordinate bodies to strictly enforce the Anti-Corruption (First Amendment) Act, 2081.



A circular issued by Chudamani Paudel, secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, emphasized the need for effective implementation of Section 17 (a), which holds officials accountable for losses caused by deliberate delays in decision-making.

Under this provision, civil servants, who intentionally delay decisions that harm public institutions or individuals, may face up to six months in prison, a fine equivalent to the damage incurred, a fine of up to Rs 50,000, or both.


The letter urges all concerned authorities to make timely decisions to prevent any damage or loss to public interest.
