SPORTS BRIEFS: HISSAN Sports Meet

KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Prime thrashed Kanjirowa 48-7 in the boys´ basketball event of HISSAN Sports and Extra Curricular Activities Meet on Tuesday. Pentagon and Xavier International also registered victories. Pentagon defeated CCRC 44-15 while Xavier thumped Olympia 52-15.



Meanwhile, the chess competition under the meet kicked off on Tuesday. After the completion of second round, Cadet-Master Rupesh Jaiswal, Aisas Khambu, Faisal Ali, Asmita Adhikari, Bibek Lama, Prakash Nepal, Bishekha Jaiswal, Bikash Suhang, Krishna Dev Chaudhary, Asim Shrestha, Rajan Kumar Yadav, Nabin Upadhyay and Bikash Adhikari have acquired two points each after winning both their matches.[break]



RIBS, Babylon reach QF



KATHMANDU
: RIBS and Babylon reached the quarterfinals of 11th Gyan Niketan Inter-school Basketball Tournament in the senior boys´ section on Tuesday. RIBS defeated Innovative 53-27 while Babylon pulled off a 17-14 victory over Awareness International Academy (AIA). In the senior girls´ section, Daffodil Public School, which has already qualified for the semifinals, beat Teresa 16-15 in a group stage match as Chhoten Lama scored six points for the winning side.



TIA beats Saptagandaki



KATHMANDU
: Trungram International Academy (TIA) beat Saptagandaki 27-22 on Tuesday in the qualifying rounds of the north zone of Kathmandu Valley for the Second U-14 Inter-school National Basketball Championship. Nawang Dorje scored 15 points for TIA. Nepal-Japan beat Bhadrakali 13-10 and Forward Academy edged past Dibyajyoti 15-10. Likewise, Nawajeevan beat HHCA 27-21 but lost to Angels´ Heart 20-23. Rehdon defeated BST 16-11.
