Souls of my city: Alms to sustain life

Souls of my city: Alms to sustain life

“One day our soul will leave this body, so it is worthless to have greed for materialistic pleasure. I do ask for money not because I am greedy for it but only to sustain the life that God has gifted me. It’s alright if people these days give money as alms instead of rice and vegetables.

People carry out many unethical activities without others’ consent and willingness so it’s alright for me if I join my two hands, beg and ask for open support to run my life,” said Rambilal Das, 68, a sadhu from Dhanusha. He has been living a life of a mendicant in Kathmandu for the past thirty years. “I choose to live as Ramanandi Sadhu,” he added.
