SC upholds removal of Keshav Sthapit

By
KATHMANDU, July 28: The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday scrapped the writ petition filed by Kathmandu Valley Town Development Authority (KVTDA) Commissioner Keshav Sthapit against his removal from the post.

With the apex court’s order Sthapit has lost his post after seven month-long legal battle regarding the issue. A division bench of Justices Kalyan Shrestha and Tarka Raj turned down Sthapit’s claim that the then government did not give him chance to furnish clarification before the decision on removal.

The bench stated that Sthapit had furnished a 17-page report as he was given a chance by then government to do so. [break]

Arguing that his removal was illegal, Sthapit on January 21 had filed a writ petition at the apex court. The government on January 17 had sacked him and appointed Yogeshwar Krishna Parajuli to the post.
