KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has issued a circular directing both private medical colleges and government hospitals to publicly disclose their fee structures. The move comes after complaints that some hospitals were charging fees higher than the prescribed rates.
Issuing a notice on Thursday, Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel emphasized the need for transparency and instructed the Ministry’s Quality Measurement and Regulation Division to ensure the details of fees are made accessible to the public. The notice requires hospitals to post information about their fees, including charges for surgeries, bed types, radiology, laboratory services, and other related services, on their websites. The goal is to make this information easily accessible to service seekers.
