Nepal Sadbhawana Party fades into obscurity after years of fragmentation

The NSP’s founder, Gajendra Narayan Singh, did not cultivate a suitable successor, which led to a series of splits and mergers over the years. The party fractured multiple times, with former leaders seeking opportunities elsewhere, while internal disputes and infighting repeatedly plagued it.

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: The Nepal Sadbhawana Party (NSP), which had been a significant symbol of the Madhesh movement and Terai/Madhesh politics for the past 34 years, is now virtually unrecognizable. Once a powerful force after the 2046 BS (1989/90) democratic movement, this party, which had established itself as a key player alongside the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML in the Terai/Madhesh region, has now reached a state of decline akin to the fate of the Praja Parishad.
