Indian establishment urges RJP to forge electoral alliance with NC

KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Indian establishment and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri have piled pressure on the Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) to forge electoral alliance with Nepali Congress (NC) for the upcoming elections.

KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Indian establishment and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri have piled pressure on the Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) to forge electoral alliance with Nepali Congress (NC) for the upcoming elections.


However, RJP leaders are not immediately ready to yield to the Indian establishment’s pressure despite frequent requests. RJP leaders have said that they can forge electoral alliance on the highway areas and in other provinces.

Last Monday, Indian Ambassador Puri had called RJP leaders to Lainchaur and urged them to forge alliance with the NC but they did not agree to their request, according to a RJP leader.


“Ambassador Puri had urged RJP leaders to leave some seats in Province 2 but they blatantly rejected the request,” he told Republica Online, “adding, “We can forge alliance with the NC on the Highway areas of Province 2 and in Province 1 and Proince 5.


Indian establishment and Envoy Puri have been lobbying the RJP to support NC leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Amresh Kumar Singh, Kiran Kumari Yadav, Padma Narayan Chaudhari in their constituencies.
