Rights of every student to quality education secured: Education Minister Shrestha

KATHMANDU, June 14: Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Gopalman Shrestha has said that the right of every student of getting quality education has been secured. 


Inaugurating the Civil Scholarship Fund at a programme jointly organised by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Thailand and International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE), Education Minister Shrestha expressed the belief that the financial support provided by such organisation including NRNA would go a long way to develop the level and technical experience of Nepali students.

He said that quake –affected students would be benefitted from the amount collected by the Fund. 


The Fund has seed money of Rs 3.5 million. The fund was collected by the NRNA Thailand and the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience - Thailand. 


It is stated that 80 Nepali students would be provided stipend for higher studies and the students affected by the earthquake would be given priority for the scholarships in the first five years. 


Tribhuvan University vice-chancellor Dr Tirtha Raj Khaniya said the service provided by the NRNA for the welfare of the earthquake survivors is praise-worthy. 

Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal, Mr. Bhakavat Tanskul said the cooperative relations between Thailand and Nepal would grow further in the days ahead. The helping hands extended by the students living in Thailand would be useful in the uplift of the people in distress.
