BARDIYA, Jan 25: Police have arrested a rape-convict 23 years after the crime was committed. Police arrested Prakash Shah of Thakur Baba Municipality-3 who had been absconding after a court convicted him of rape and announced a verdict against him 23 years ago. The court had sentenced Shah to one year and six months in prison.
Shah was absconding since the court announced the verdict against him. The police arrested Shah while he was walking on the road in Thakur Baba Municipality-1, Bhurigaon. DSP Hikmat Bahadur Bohra of the District Police Office informed Republica that the police produced Shah before the court which sent him to jail to serve the term.
