KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Chandrakanta Bhandari and Madhu Acharya have maintained their lead in the election for vice-president at the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention.
Dhanraj Gurung, elected vice-president at the previous convention, is reported to be in fifth place.

According to the latest results, Bhandari leads with 679 votes, or 51.2 percent of the total counted. Acharya follows with 393 votes, or 29.7 percent.
Govinda Bhattarai is third with 345 votes, followed by Surendra Raj Pandey with 337. Gurung has received 240 votes.
Deepak Giri has secured 264 votes, while Prof. Dr. Chandra Mohan Yadav has received 138.
Counting is underway for the two open vice-president seats.
