KATHMANDU, May 20: Dhanraj Acharya continues to lead the race for the post of mayor of the metropolis. CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Acharya, who is a common candidate of the ruling alliance, has maintained a difference of 3,270 votes with his closest rival, CPN-UML candidate Krishna Thapa.
So far, 65,462 votes have been counted and Acharya has maintained his lead by securing 26,968 votes. Krishna Thapa of the UML is following him with 23,698 votes.

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate Shankar Kharal has got 2,775 votes and rebel candidate Ganesh Poudel has secured 1,670 votes.
In the race for the post of deputy-mayor, Nepali Congress candidate Kopila Ranabhat has taken the lead in the vote-counting. She has maintained her lead against CPN-UML candidate Manju Devi Gurung by 165 votes. Kopila Ranabhat of Nepali Congress has taken the lead with 27,284 votes. UML's Manju Devi Gurung is following her with 27,119 votes. Ranjana Sen of RPP has polled 2,588 votes for the post of deputy mayor.
