POKHARA, May 19: Dhanraj Acharya has been continuously leading in the race for the post of mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City. Acharya, a CPN (Unified Socialist) leader who is a common candidate of the five-party ruling alliance, is 2,103 votes ahead of his closest rival, CPN-UML candidate Krishna Thapa.
So far, 47,466 votes have been counted and Acharya has maintained his lead with 19,615 votes. UML’s Thapa is following him with 17,512 votes.

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party's Shankar Kharal has got 1,962 votes and independent candidate Ganesh Poudel has got 1,024 votes.
Meanwhile, CPN-UML candidate Manju Devi Gurung has taken the lead in the race for the post of deputy mayor in the election. Increasing her lead since last night, she has surpassed Kopila Ranabhat of the Nepali Congress by 228 votes.
While Gurung has taken the lead with 20,002 votes, Ranabhat is following her with 19,774 votes. RPP's Ranjana Sen has received 1,744 votes.
