KATHMANDU, Oct 10: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Armed Police Force (APF) has gone missing while attempting to pull severed Nepal Telecom cable across the Mahakali River suspension bridge over the river, which was washed away by the river.

According to the APF, the incident occurred at 12:15 PM on Saturday while the cable was being pulled across the Mahakali River—from Dodhara Chandani Municipality-4 to Bhimdatta Municipality-13—using a rubber boat.
The Nepal Telecom cable had snapped a few days earlier when the suspension bridge over the Mahakali River was swept away, disrupting the company's phone and internet services in the Dodhara Chandani area.
Efforts were underway to pull the severed cable across the river using a rubber boat to restore the interrupted communication services. During this process, ASI Tharu's leg reportedly got entangled in the cable, causing him to fall from the rubber boat into the Mahakali River, where he subsequently went missing.
A search operation for ASI Tharu is currently underway, according to the APF.
