Police seize herbs collected in unauthorized way

Jumla, Jan 27: The police have taken control of unauthorized herbs without a collection permit which were  being  transported  in Jumla.

Jumla, Jan 27: The police have taken control of unauthorized herbs without a collection and transaction permit which were  being  transported  in Jumla.


Police have taken under control two tractors carrying herbs coming from Gadhigaun to the district headquarters Khalanga in Urthu Chautara of Jumla Patarasi Rural Municipality-3.

The tractor drivers did not have a collection as well as transaction permit that could verify that the herbs had been collected legally, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Narendra Chand.  "The herbs brought in both the tractors were taken under control and sent to the Division Forest Office,” he said.


Tekendra Budha and Ashal Kathayat of Patarasi Rural Municipality-7 who were driving the tractors have been taken under control as well. Police have seized 40 quintals of Setak Chini herbs harvested and collected without government approval. 


According to the District Police Office, Jumla, both the tractors along with the driver have been handed over to Division One Office, Jumla for necessary action.
