Political party leaders stage sit-in in front of Gorkha DAO

GORKHA, Nov 21: Political party leaders staged a sit-in in front of the District Administration Office, Gorkha demanding to fix the compensation amount for the affected people of Aarughat, Khahare of Dhading and Arkhet of Gorkha where Budhi Gandaki Hydro project is being launched.

GORKHA, Nov 21: Political party leaders staged a sit-in in front of the District Administration Office, Gorkha demanding to fix the compensation amount for the affected people of Aarughat, Khahare of Dhading and Arkhet of Gorkha where Budhi Gandaki Hydro project is being launched. 


Former Prime Minister and the lawmaker of Gorakha-2 Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai, National Assembly (NA) member Surendra Raj Pandey and Gandaki Province Assembly member Prakash Chandra Dawadi were among those who staged sit-in since 10 this morning.

The demonstrators said that they staged the demonstration to exert pressure on the local administrator blaming the latter for its dilly-dallying to fix the land compensation amount at the earliest.


On the occasion, former PM Bhattarai said he would always express solidarity with the people's concerns. He expressed concern over the prolonged delay in distributing the compensation amount to the affected people.


NA member Pandey said that they are trying to pressurize the concerned authority to fix the compensation amount to the affected people. 


Coordinator of Budhi Gandaki Concern Committee Dinesh Kumar Dhakal informed that they will conduct a similar program in front of the District Administration Office, Dhading on Friday and at the office of the project at Ghyalchowk on Sunday the next week. “We’ll go for stronger agitation if the fixation is not completed by November 26,” warned Dhakal.
