“With the number of tourists visiting the resort increasing and to address the problem of shortage of room during the weekends, we will add cottage rooms from the beginning of 2014,” said Bhimsen Karki, the founding promoter of the company. [break]
Visitors have to book the room one week in advance at present to stay at the resort which has 29 rooms in total.
“Currently, people who have visited the resort once do not come here again. Hence we are planning to add various recreational facilities such as swimming pool, fitness club, spa, meditation center, among others, to attract the guests to revisit the resort,” said Karki.
The resort established with an initial investment of Rs 150 million plans to invest another Rs 20 million to add the cottage rooms and other leisure facilities.
Currently the resort charges, US$ 70 for superior single room, US$ 80 for superior double room on B& B basis, US$ 25 for extra bed, US$ 12 for lunch and US$ 14 for dinner for foreigners.
The company has announced special plans for Nepalis in which the resort charges Rs 1,750 for superior single room and Rs 2,200 for superior double room on B&B basis.
The company established with an aim to develop eco-tourism, horticulture and organic farming serves organic food at its restaurant.
The resort is surrounded by a community forest known as Pataleban and one can enjoy mesmerizing views of sunset, the Himalayan range of Langtang, Ganesh, Manaslu, Annapurna and the Dhading valley.
The company that grows varieties of grapes like Delaware, Campbell Early, and Cabernet also has its own winery which produces the wine brand name Pataleban Wine.
“We are currently manufacturing wines for our internal purpose only but we are soon planning to extend grape farming and hopefully we will be selling wines in the domestic marketing the near future and also has a long tern plan of exporting wines,” said Karki.
Influenced by the concept of winery resort in Japan, the company Pataleban Vineyard Resort was registered in 2006 in Nepal and is affiliated to Nichibi Kaikan, a company based in Tokyo, Japan.
Pataleban launches new destination Kaule Vineyard
Patalaeban Vineyard Resort has launched a new destination Kaule, a village in Dhading, where the company has started grape farming. The village is located at the Thakre VDC - 5, Dhading district, about 20 km west of the Pataleban Vineyard Resort.
“We have already started farming 9 varieties of grapes especially wine grapes imported from Yamanashi of Japan in 10 ropanis of land and in the next two years it will be expanded to additional 10 ropanis in the next season,” said Karki.
Karki said that people can have scenic view of mountains located in the northern range, enjoy village walk populated mostly by people from Tamang, Chepang, Magar and Chettri communities and enjoy a single day hike. The company also provides camping facilities for those who want to stay at night.
