KATHMANDU, September 14: Screening equipment and soundproof rooms for infants handover ceremony was held today in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur District. The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Japanese Embassy, TAMURA Takahiro, attended the ceremony. The equipment and rooms are provided with the support of USD 82,236 under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese Government To the BP Eye Foundation in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality.

At the time, Tamura stated that the tools and spaces could help with the early identification of hearing impairment in newborns. Early detection enables the provision of treatment to lessen hearing loss and ease challenges including delays in language and learning skills development. According to Tamura, this support will give many children a better future and further solidify the connection between the people of Japan and Nepal.
