POKHARA, Nov 11: Shangri-la Village Resort, a three-star resort in Pokhara, has been awarded the South Asian Travel Award (SATA) for Leading Wellness and Spa Hotel/Resort in Nepal.
Umesh Thapamagar, the residential director of the resort, stated: "Amongst 18 deluxe hotels and spas, Shangri-la received the most votes, securing us the award." He further said: "Our outstanding services have won us this award, which has elevated our reputation, helping us broaden our market."
Shangri-la brings two new saving products
The ceremony saw hotels being awarded for 50 different categories. Apart from Shangri-la Village Resort and Spa, Barahi Jungle Resort of Chitwan, Hotel Shangri-la, Annapurna and Mulberry of Kathmandu received the SATA award this year.
This year was the first time for Nepal to have participated in SATA awards. The guests residing in the hotel were the ones to vote for Shangri-la on the basis of services they received.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in India, while Nepal has made efforts to host the ceremony in 2019. Thapamagar added: "Nepal's accommodation infrastructure has not been fully developed. If we give our best for the next two years, this will be developed further. An opportunity to host the ceremony would be great for tourism promotion."
