Kathmandu University School of Education organized a one-day workshop on ‘School Governance in Nepal” on Friday at its premises at Hattiban, Lalitpur. The workshop was supported by Danish Fellowship Center of Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to a press statement released by Kathmandu University School of Education more than 20 scholars and policy analysts participated in the workshop. Seven key papers —four from PhD researchers, and three from the Kathmandu University faculties— were presented and each paper was commented and discussed by two external reviewers. The reviewers were Dr Sushan Acharya, Dr Amina Singh, Dr Shiva Hari Dahal, Prof Prem Khatry, Prof Govinda Dhakal and Dr Hari Lamsal as per the press statement.

The opening session was addressed by Prof Laxman Gnawali, Associate Dean of School of Education. He welcomed the participants and also illustrated on the concept of integrity. Then, Associate Professor Prakash C Bhattarai shed lights on the project intent. He highlighted that the project was focused on ‘Dynamics of public finance in education sector in Nepal”. The project was a joint endeavor of Martin Chautari (Nepal), Aarhus University (Denmark), and Kathmandu University (Nepal). He shared that Kathmandu University’s role in this project was in two major activities: exploring sociological perspectives in public finance in Nepali schools; and producing four PhD thesis on school governance.
