KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Police have arrested an individual for assassinating the character of a girl by sharing intimate videos of her with her family and relatives.
According to the Cyber Bureau, Bishwa Raj Rai, 31, of Limchungbung Rural Municipality-4 in Udayapur was arrested with the help of Area Police Office, Siraha, on Thursday on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim. Police arrested Rai in accordance with the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008.

As per a statement released by the Cyber Bureau, the victim had reported that Rai sent obscene videos and pictures taken without the victim’s knowledge when they were in a relationship, to the victims’ relatives through social media (messenger).
The Bureau’s spokesperson Superintendent of Police Dipak Raj Awasthi informed Republica that the suspect was presented to the Kathmandu District Court and the court ordered to extend his judicial custody by five days for further investigation.
