KATHMANDU, OCT 19: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is selling gold and silver coins (Asharfi) from Thursday, targeting Dhanteras and Laxmi Puja of Tihar--the festival of light that is just a few days away.
Dhanteras is the first day of the five-day-long Tihar festival, which falls on Saturday. Since the day is considered to be auspicious to buy precious metals and utensils, many aspirants buy gold and silver on this day.

According to NRB, it will be selling the gold and silver coins from its Mint Division at Babarmahal, Kathmandu. The Division Chief Binod Raj Acharya said the central bank will sell the precious metal coins in various denominations including 2 gram, 5 gram and 10 gram. The gold and silver coins to be sold by NRB will have 99.99 percent purity.
