NAWALPARASI, Dec 19: Sardi, which was once considered inaccessible due to lack of road infrastructure, has become accessible with the completion of a blacktopped road. The Dumkibas-Sardi road, which was taken forward as a pride project by Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality here, has been connected with the blacktopped road, eliminating the burden to travel on foot for hours.
Rural Municipality Chairman Ghanshyam Giri This eased local life, stimulating other activities, he stated.said that with the resolution of decades-old road problems, other activities have also started increasing. “The rural municipality has blacktopped about 14 kilometers of road from Dumkibas-Dandajor-Sardi to Koltadi. Since taking office, we have completed the road that had been stalled for decades, thus fulfilling our election promise. Now, one can reach Sardi in a jiffy,” he said.
Municipal Engineer Shambhu KC said that they upgraded the road at a cost of about Rs 170 million. This improved local life and spurred other activities, he stated.
Road blacktop comes off in two weeks of construction
Local Bishnumaya Bhujel said that the road has been freed from years of problems. “Earlier, people had to walk for hours, and when they fell ill, in some cases, patients bitten by snakes died on the way because they could not reach the hospital on time. Now, the road has provided many facilities. She said, "The road construction eliminated the suffering of the arduous journey to the highway."
This road has provided convenience to the residents of Binayi Triveni Wards No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Mainly, residents of Wards No. 3, 4 and 5 have been provided with the facility to easily reach Dumkibas. With the road being blacktopped, the journey from Sardi to Dumkibas can be completed in about 20 minutes.
Rural Municipality Chairman Giri said that the municipality has prioritized the construction of the road as it is also the main basis for development activities. The municipality has fulfilled an important resolution and plans to gradually connect all wards to the highway and the municipality to convenient roads. We are working on it,” he said.
Blacktopping the Dumkibas-Sardi road improved Sardi's highway access. She said that this work has also helped the locals of about three dozen villages along the road in traveling and marketing their agricultural produce.
