GORKHA, Aug 21: The Road Division Office in Damauli has decided to blacktop the 24 km road section from Abukhaireni, Tanahun to Gorkha after vehicular movement became problematic on the current road.
Drivers have complained of big pits on the side of the road that make it hard for them to drive. So far, six kilometers of road section from the Marshyangdi bridge to Abuwa has been blacktopped with 20 kilometers still remaining.

Nearly 5.25 meters of new road section will be available after blacktopping of the road from Abukhaireni to Gorkha. This road widening project actually started last April but was halted due to heavy rains. Enginner Gautam Shrestha said, "If there are no heavy rains then the blacktopping will be finished within coming November."
Engineer Shrestha said the blacktopping of roads of both sides would cost Rs. 73.6 million. The road from Gorkha to Abukhaireni was constructed in 1980 with the aid of the Chinese government.
