KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday declined slightly by 9.01 points to close at 2,173.10 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,182.11 points and went through a series of fluctuations throughout the trading period. The index hit the day’s high at 2,214.42 points, while it fell as low as 2,167.44 points. The daily turnover rose to Rs 4.928 billion from Rs 3.72 billion on Tuesday.

In the intraday trading, a total of 80 companies gained in their market value whereas 121 companies were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also fell 1.93 points.
Three groups including development bank, hydropower and mutual fund gained in their market prices. Of the 10 losers, the trading index dropped by the biggest of 171.91 points.
In individual companies, Ridi Power Company had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 357.85 million. Salt Trading Corporation was the topmost loser, while Peoples Hydropower Company was the highest gainer of the day.
